Bringing Balance to Brexit: Practical Steps to Readiness

New Book Release: The Brexit Readiness Guide

London, 23 March 2018 - The world of writing software is a lot easier than the world of writing Government policy, particularly when it comes prescribing solutions to complex change management projects such as Brexit, says IT leadership consultant, GDPR author and Fifth Step CEO Darren Wray. Wray has now written his latest book the Brexit Readiness Guide, which provides practical non-partisan advice on how to manage the legal, regulatory and business risks and opportunities that shape the post Brexit landscape. According to the author:

“A career in helping large organisations around the world understand, plan for and implement complex change has taught me that an informed and structured approach helps us not only understand the impact of transformation but mitigate and deal with the consequences. The result is that business are more effective managing their short term risks and thrive in the longer-term as their planning and structured approach pays off. The aim of this book is to help readers use the approach I describe to deal with the changes that the 29th March 2019 are set to usher in. It is, I believe, the only book about Brexit that has such goals and approaches the subject as business change, something that can be overcome and businesses can adapt to.”

The guide advises directors and officers to exercise reasonable care both in the execution of their duties related to Brexit, but also conveys a duty of care upon the director over the organisation. This requires that the organisation and director have effective risk management systems in place. Brexit, with its potential for changes to the business environment, the political landscape, the legal framework and business standards, if left unattended represents a risk to the businesses that their directors should most definitely be looking to recognise, plan for and mitigate.

Wray says: “The greater risk to UK business in these cases is likely to come not from the authorities, but from the shareholders who might feel that directors’ inaction has reduced the value of their stock, and choose to take legal action against the directors. The book also addresses questions such as large pharmaceutical companies having to duplicate capability in countries that will remain in the EU while passporting is the major concern for Financial Services, with banks, mutual & hedge funds, and insurance companies all keen to continue operations as close to pre-Brexit as possible. The book helps to create a Brexit Transformation Plan that will help your enterprise identify opportunities, and evolve into the business that will thrive in this new environment.”

The Brexit Readiness Guide will be published on the 29th March 2018 and will be available in both ereader and paperback from Amazon. For an advance copy of the book, contact Darren Wray directly Darren.wray@fifthstep.com
